Coach Cherry Parfum Adds a Tart Fruity Floral to the Fragrance Shelf

Why this matters

Cherry fragrances can go two very different ways: syrupy candy or polished fruit. Coach Cherry Parfum appears to be aiming for the brighter, more wearable side of that divide.

PS Beauty’s May 11 launch roundup lists the fragrance at $85 and names cherry, jasmine and amber notes. That note structure is straightforward but useful: cherry for the opening, jasmine for a floral middle and amber to keep the drydown warmer than a body splash.

What is new

The launch gives Coach a timely entry in the fruity-floral space, where shoppers are looking for scents that feel playful without smelling like dessert. Cherry is still a crowded note, but it is understandable, searchable and easy to sample in store.

The tradeoff is that cherry can be polarizing. On some skin it reads tart and juicy; on others it can turn medicinal or too sweet. This is one to try on skin, not just a paper strip.

Who should watch it

Watch this if you want a cheerful fragrance for warmer weather but do not want a heavy vanilla gourmand. Skip blind-buying if almond or cherry cough-drop notes bother you.
